A niece of Gerry Adams today claimed that a list naming drug dealers under threat, which was found in her home during a police raid, was work-related.

Sinead Clarke — whose father, Liam Adams, is the brother of the former Sinn Fein president — is standing trial at Belfast Crown Court on a charge of possessing documents or records likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

The items in question are Post-It notes which bore the personal details of nine drug dealers in west Belfast and which were located in the living room of Clarke's home in June 2018.

On the second day of the non-jury trial, the 43-year-old mother of three was called to the witness stand, where she confirmed that at the time of the raid she worked for Conflict Resolution Services Ireland (CRSI).

Based on the Falls Road, part of the work undertaken by CRSI is to promote peaceful resolution to community conflicts through mediation.

Just on a legal side of things, and I've no idea whether or not any or all of the recordings will be ruled as admissible in the juryless court, is it not a bit bizarre that the recordings which haven't as yet been ruled as admissible or non-admissible are being reported verbatim (presumably) in the news?

So who makes the decision to allow it or not ?

Seems all a bit academic anyway when it's being reported word for word in the media what was said on the tapes anyway. IF, and it's a big if, the judges decide that it is inadmissible wonder what the legal status is of RTE reporting what they claim has been said on the tapes. Not sure how RTE have access to what has been said on the tapes tbh given that it's all going on in the Special Criminal Court and has yet to be decided as to whether or not it's admissible. One would've thought the courtroom would have been cleared while the judges were listening to the tapes and coming to a decision on the admissibility or otherwise of them.
