No Parking = No City

There is a bus from the suburbs every 15 or 20 minutes.
Park & Ride at Kinsale Road that delivers you to the city centre
1,000's of public and private car park spaces in the city.
You can even park on the streets.

Why should a resident of Jew Town have some fellah from Skibbereen store his Seat Ateca outside their door all day on a narrow street outside their house with the option 2 large multi-storey car parks 2 minutes away?
Yeah m8 the buses from the suburbs and the park and ride are great, reliable and regular.
:lol!:
Sometimes an hour to get a miniscule distance extra into town.
Thousands of parking spaces? Usually all full at peak times m8 or excessively expensive.

What residents of Jew town? Foreigners in rented shitholes with no cars?
No one wants to park in the city centre but to take away all street parking that is 15 mins walk away on streets with little to no commercial presence is counter productive.
As I said town is dying and you refuse to see one of the biggest reasons for it. People just don't want the hassle and go elsewhere.

Reliable buses every 20 minutes and cheap with your leap card so you are arguing for improved public transport which can never happen if you simply drive and park where you like for free (outside tiny houses on narrow streets with foreigners) while the city centre has 1,000's of public and private car park spaces.

Yes, if we can just park and drive everywhere we like in the city it would be just fantastic.

New Easons on Patric St. JD Sports taking over their huge building for a department store, North Face opening a new shop on Patrick St, DUNE shoes opening a new store, Penney's investing millions of €€€ and many more developments on site or at planning stage so do carry on.

Princess St is pedestrianised since 1972.

Can you name one pedestrianised street where the traders want the return of traffic and parking in the city?

FYI Paul Street and North Main Street both owned by the council...aka de peeple.

Benny could surely but Merchants Quay and convert it into 5 storey late bar. A candle-in-a-bottle in every car park space.
Ownership isn’t the issue here. The issue is access. It will be very difficult to pedestrianise the city centre when there are multi storey car parks on the central island.
You know it, I know it, and THEY know it. It’s only a few years ago since they gave permission for the multi storey on Gramd Parade.
And setting fire to a pallet extinguishing it and using it as a “feature,” will make no difference, no matter how many antique bicycles you nail to the ceiling.
😃

People will still be driving petrol and diesel cars after 2030 as not everybody will be able to purchase an EV by that date.

Poorer sections of society may not ever be able to afford them unless prices come down considerably which is a necessity.

People and freight went straight onto trains and trams in the cities first and then buses before mass private car ownership became available as cycling was the individual mode of transport.

Cars will always be able to move in the city centre and park not so different to what we have now, but your car storage will be your problem as some multi-storey car parks could be knocked or converted to other uses.

Who knows as we could all be under 2 metres of water by then?
Lol

City centre is for losers, drunks, zombies, and do gooders giving out “hygiene packs” to the above.

It also nurtures an industry of idealogically driven planners/councillors/academics and campaigning nut jobs like those posting on this very thread.

Including me.

:lol!:

Jesus Christ,
Dan is right, you're an absolute excruciatingly painful prick.
I said..

To which you answered with the bit in bold?
Which no one at all is debating except you.

Run away and fuck off because I couldn't be bothered wasting my time debating with you.

350 on street parking spaces have been removed, that's all and the majority was for the pedestrianisation of streets, which you stated you were happy with. If parking up in the Black Ash and waiting 10 minutes for a bus is a hassle then these people you are talking about need to look at themselves.

Get on the bus to zombie central and sit next to some crack whore screaming at her “fella”
on her smart phone while two wackers are puckin’ the head off a fella down the back while a small child screams her head off.

Or drive in your own private space to a spacious free car park in Mahon Point, Douglas, Wilton, or Bishopstown Court.

Hmmmm…..

Calm down fella, no one is talking about using the bus from Glanmire.

👍

Thats it in a nutshell.

Its terrible planning. Sticking your fingers in your ears and pretending otherwise is total nonsense.
