2022 Premier Senior Hurling

Really shows how good Ben o Connor is as a coach with Midleton now out at the group stages. He done a top job with them over the two years he was there.
If the season was reverses with the club championship starting mid April the club players would still know when they are playing as for good pitch's have you seen PUR and im told Cobh is even worse .
I was watching Buff Sunday Doing Charleville V Rockies, jez the field was atrocious . No way should a match have been played on it. It seems a lot of sand based pitches are very poor this summer due to lack of rain.

Ya that the way Id have club first as it should be and County the 2nd half of the year.

Colleges then would get games played with no hassle and County grounds would be grand later in the year. All Ireland finals October Bank Holiday weekend hurling Football mid November.

That would work for everyone bar the all controlling inter county manager. Imagine telling them they won’t see their players until july or August 😀

Intercounty training could commence in both codes after the quarter final for those who are out of BOTH codes with their clubs, that should satisfy inter county managers.

The reason for the IC championship first is mainly due to Cork. Our championships take 16 weeks, (think that was the figure, longest in the country anyways) to complete. So you start a club championship in mid April, the Cork one won't be completed till mid August, then two weeks off for the start of Munster championship. Cork will play their first hurling championship game first week of Sept, then playing 4 Sundays in a row (at best) we are in to first week of October, then a possible MF, Qualifiers and Semi final we will have an AI final in November and that isn't even allowing for the AI football championship or replays.

The inter-county championship is the biggest money spinner and you want the AI finals played when the weather is shite? Think again please.

Inter County managers need to be put back in their box. Look at the state of Football and Hurling going the same route. There is a Training Ban and players should be allowed live their lives outside of it. Any serious team of which sadly Cork isn't one will be doing individual programmes anyway ( Hopefully this will change under Ryan)

Which of the club or the inter county player deserve to play in the son more, and i can guarantee you that an all ireland final played in december would be a sell out.n
