You reckon? They’d go apeshitIntercounty training could commence in both codes after the quarter final for those who are out of BOTH codes with their clubs, that should satisfy inter county managers.
Well then if u want it that way put the Finals back on in August it was like a sprint this year to get things finshed up.The inter-county championship is the biggest money spinner and you want the AI finals played when the weather is shite? Think again please.
Let them run side by side and take the power away from county Managers 2 weeks intercounty then back with the club and so on and so forth 12 months to get the whole thing done it should be possible then you have best of both worlds. The majority of club players across the country are playing championship games in July, august and September the best months of the year……for the absolute vast majority of clubs it’s the county title that counts, everything after that is a bonus. Are fellas serious about running club first? When does the national league start? When does the championship? Flog county players all spring and summmer and then all winter?
This split season hasn’t even finished and fellas want to change it……club players of which most of us have been one want 2 things essentially - a confirmed games calendar and as many games as possible without being flogged.
We know have that at least in cork- a proper league structure and a proper championship structure, it seems to be working and the time to review it is after it’s concluded.
Every time you constrict the intercounty game like the gaa rightly did with the split season you reduce commercial revenue which means less trickle down money for clubs.
Clubs are foremost and the proof of that is getting the best months of the year to play championship matches
This just isn’t possible and it’s not possible to run side by side…..county managers are appointed by county executives who are appointed by county board delegates who are appointed by clubs……the responsibility is collective, the county manager is doing his job as he sees it, it’s upto others to call him up and that won’t happen. The split season is logical and a positive move, this constant trying to curtail or diminish intercounty games I don’t understandLet them run side by side and take the power away from county Managers 2 weeks intercounty then back with the club and so on and so forth 12 months to get the whole thing done it should be possible then you have best of both worlds.
Running them side by side is impossible as already said, junior we are flogging the inter county player what ever way we run both championships. I would have the league between Jan and March,,club mid april to mid August and the rest for the intercounty championship. This would work but those in charge will not let it happen as they think you would get more for a munster final in June than you would get in mid October.
