Welcome to Cork, Poles

PROC & Garreth Joyce

South Mall, Cork City

One of the city's biggest communities are the Poles and they make a giant contribution to Cork.

Hard working, fond of a drink, always up for the craic - just some of the things about Corkonians that have seen many Poles make our city their home.

The image on the box is of Nicolaus Copernicus, the 15th century Polish astronomer and mathematician who formulated a model of the universe that put the sun, and not the earth, at the centre of the universe.

While undoubtedely a genius, he never visited Cork, but if he did we're sure he would have revised his model and moved the sun to make way for the People's Republic.

The text says 'Welcome to the People's Republic of Cork'.

In association with ReImagineCork.
