I'm a shite shot when I'm out though, the buggers normally get away! I'd say I'd do more damage to any intruder with a packet of ham then the old 12 guage.

Lots of nice lads have poroblems, they still know breaking into someones house to steal their possessions is wrong so they don't do it.
This has the added bonus of significanly reducing their chances of getting shot by an angry and/or scared homeowner.

I think the only rational thing to do would be to 2 shots, 1 to the hand in case they try use a weapon and a second to the leg so they don't get away so you can get them to clean their scummy blood spatters off your walls and carpets while you calmly wait for the shades to come pick em up.

Didn't say they were saints but everyone makes mistakes, some people make mistakes that get them into stuff like burglary, if you stab them or shoot them or do anything excessive in my opinion you're worse than them

Yeah, I suppose you could always hope that the guy who has decided to enter your home illegally is one of your nice friendly burglars and maybe just greet him with a cup of tea and give him a DVD player and laptop for his troubles. And just forget the fact that there are people a certain amount of these intruders who will have no problem in causing you harm or even death, but hey, at least you'll get brownie points at the pearly gates for your passive way of dealing with things and sacrificing your life for the financial benefit of some poor misfortunate scumbag.
