The Official UEFA Euro 24 Thread

Carvajal's return will help Spain defensively although at 5'8", not aerially.

I expect England to target Cucurella with Walker, Saka and Rice overloading the right wing.

I wonder will Uefa close the loophole that Carvajal exploited in the 1/4s. His 1st yellow gave him a 1 match suspension for accumulation of yellows, and his red card gave him a 1 match suspension, but both suspensions ran concurrently for the semi which Carvajal obviously knew with his deliberate pull down in the 125th minute giving him the 2nd yellow.
You shouldn't be getting bans for 2 yellows in separate games in a tournament imo. Or they shouldn't carry from the group stage at the very least.

I'd also be a bit more pragmatic on the yellow card front. Especially when there are some very soft yellows given out, like in this tournament.

It's a tournament that only happens every 4 years. Everyone want the best players available - especially for countries where there is a big drop-off from the first 11 or so players to the rest.

Maybe wipe the slate clean after the group stage and only have a 1 game suspension in the knock-out phase if a player gets booked in both the last 16 game and the quarter final.

Or even up it to three cards leads to a suspension if they want to keep the accumulation aspect going.

I’d imagine because very few people interested, not to mention the teams. Hard to motivate a team to “win” for third place.

Well you get a medal for it like, if I was a professional footballer I'd want to play as many Euros games as possible, especially with a medal at stake

a few friends are popping around to my gaff sun night for the final, this is an ai rendition of my place mon morning if England win.....
