The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

Konate out for approx 6 weeks. Bradley out for similar, if not more.

Trent is back but that’s two big losses, expressly Konate, at a time when you need your squad at its deepest due to the fixture schedule coming up. There are players there to cope with immediate losses but any further injury and we’d be on the back foot.

Konate is having a super season alongside Van Dijk too.

Well, almost none on here thought we should have played a weakened team. It's a long season and whether you like it or not that wasn't a key game in terms of points. Yes it felt great but if you lose two of your back 4, maybe not so much.

Fair point. I did think we would have rotated more and posted that on here beforehand.

Injuries are part of the game though and you can sustain them any day between training or games so you just have to get on with it. The defence depth isn’t very strong now though.

Konate be a big loss alright. Hell of a lot of games in the next 6 weeks too.

Hopefully Bradley's isn't quite as long. Shame for him as he was bubbling along nicely.

The issue now is you often find that a spate of injuries in one area (i.e. the defence) means the remaining players get overstretched and it triggers further injuries.

At this point Slot should think about playing a bare minimum of first team defenders in the Carabao Cup tie against Southampton and the FA Cup 3rd round tie (11th Jan - draw made on Monday).

If you rested everyone for every game nobody would get injured ;)

Tbf that is a bad outcome on the injury front with the games coming thick and fast, both those players would have featured, Konate obviously as one of first choice CBs.

Good chance for Gomez. At RB it’s a challenge as I suspect they would have liked to have managed TAAs minutes and with Bradley there was a very solid backup.
