The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

Like a few previous seasons Liverpool have got a big deal done very early

...but the rest of the window looks like it'll a bit of a waiting game, which could culminate in a late flurry.

Feels like Liverpool are working off a broad set of midfield targets and, with MacAllister secured, will probably look to do deals that they think are good value rather than doing whatever it takes to secure any one specific midfielder.

France look likely to at least make the semis (5th July - final on 8th July) whereas the Dutch aren't likely go past the quarters (2nd July)

-Arsenal look lie spending £200m+ after finishing second

-City just pissed a treble and have unlimited funds

-United will have new mega money owners shortly

-Newcastle area state owned monstrosity and will strengthen considerable

-Chelsea have Boehly and his dodgy side deal with the Saudis buying his dross to circumvent FFP.

Liverpool shopping in Eurogiant yet again.
Need another two midfielders at a bare minimum.

For. Fuck. Sake.

Take Liverpool's squad. This season Liverpool had a relatively low % of homegrown senior players. It's quite concievable that 4 of the 7 homegrown player will leave this summer. Along with 4+ non-homegrown players (Adrian, Arthur, Keita, Firminho).

If all those transfers happened and nobody was brought in Liverpool would have
- The 3 homegrown senior players (plus Curtis Jones, due to age)
- The 12 non homegrown senior players
- 3 x u21 players who are first-team ready (Elliot, Carvalho, Bajcetic)

So that's only 19 players in total, unless some of the the u21s mature sufficiently to make a contribution.

Liverpool have headroom to bring in up to 5 senior non-homegrown players but may need to bring in ~6 players (3 midfielders, 1 or 2 reserve keepers, a CB). So having a young homegrown guy like Curtis is valuable, and the transfer policy should try to find some senior homegrown options - otherwise a future foreign buy could only be registered if someone else drops out.
