the official betting thread.

Yep. No value in backing Bayern at those prices.

I could see a world where Utd successfully park the bus and get a 0-0 (30.0) or at a stretch nick one on the break for a 0-1 (34.0)

A RWC betting angle to to mull over lads.

I think there could be some money to be made betting on red cards in this world cup. If reds are given out at the same average rate of recent internationals (1 every 5 games across 6 Nations, Autumn Intls, Rugby Championship, Pacific Nations Cup) a 48 game world cup would have 9.6 red cards. Sporting Index have set the linen at 6.5 reds or at the regular bookies you can back 6 reds or more at 4/6.

There were 8 reds at the last world cup. How many do you reckon there'll be this time? Do you reckon the new bunker review system will drive down the amount of reds?
4 in 18 matches so far. Looking fairly good here. Indeed, the six should be doable within the pool stages.

Yep, positive signs so far. Would yield 10 cards overall if the current rate continues.

My main reservation is a fear that word will come from up on high to avoid big knock-out game being decided by reds, so we may see a drop-off.

Did a mix of over 5.5 and a spread bet at 6.8, so I'm hitting a small profit at 6 reds and increasingly tastier at any level above that.

They look to have called the spread on yellows much more accurately tbf.

Took over 6.5 at 5/6 with Billy H myself just before the Ireland v Romania game.
