Well, it is fairly amazing tbf!! About the only saving grace, and something that messes up the conversion table from Steve Magness there, is that the gap between men and women does seem to be less as the distances increase. There were 5 women or so in the top 20 of Spartathlon recently (rough numbers).

Reaction is all over the shop for sure - nobody knows what to think.

C., AFAIK, those tables factor in the male/female convergence as distances lengthen. So, I don't think there's any comfort there. Men's record has come down 3 minutes in 16 years. Women's record has come down 7 minutes in 7 years.

Kenyan distance running has been shown to be rife with PEDs - if that was Russia they'd be banned from all competition.

Given what's been going on in Kenyan athletics wrt doping the last few years I'd say there are huge question marks hanging over this time.

From what I've read they'd give the East Germans a run for their money.?
