If going along with government on migration has cost SF it's popularity where does that vote then go.

Can't believe the left haven't come together under the one umbrella to form a legitimate threat.

Matt Cooper had a few people on yesterday, One of them Sarah Carey said that is the big problem for SF, Some of
their vote from 2020 will go left, some right, Some will go soc dems, independent, If FF,FG are returned then that is democracy at play,
If enough of people dont want things to change then we have to respect that,

It's like the 100 year of ff/fg nonsense being bandied about. I've always voted Labour where possible and being +60 always felt dick spring blew the "spring tide" labour had back in the day. Labour got around 33 seats if I remember correctly and should have stayed out of gov and led a left centred opposition, SF at the time were "busy" things they would tell you now there was no alternative to. This is why I say the 100 year thing is a load of crap as it's only since the good Friday agreement that sf have ever even tried to offer a democratic option to the people. They had a great chance but for me their leadership is too weak,too flip flop and their inability so far to offer any kind of an umbrella left alternative which would even look viable is a real indictment of their party strategy.

FF,FG in government for 100 years is democracy at work, Support has dropped hugely but it is very likely both will be back in office
again, Labour are still slated for measures taken during the austerity years but at least they had the guts to go into government , Others would have run a mile

Agree with that ,the smaller party will and has always carried the can for unpopular decisions. I'd be in favour of labour and soc dem alliance even a rebrand as SLDP here might help them leave that austerity millstone behind them .
There were I think 2 elections in the 80's where FF got over 40% of the vote and didn't form a government. Can you imagine that happening with SF nowadays (it wont) ,their supporters who sometimes seem like they don't even understand how pr and democracy work would have a fit.
