We can have all the electricity we want - problem is Ryan doesn't like how we are generating it.No electricity please, we're Irish.

All the global climate accords apply here no matter who is in Government as we as a State have fully signed up to it.We can have all the electricity we want - problem is Ryan doesn't like how we are generating it.
No to wind turbinesNo electricity please, we're Irish.
YES to wind turbines
YES to solar.
No to nuclear.
YES to power interconnectors.
YES to gas interconnectors.
AND head up the back of the bog there and cut some turf..........
What do we do in 20 - 30 years when that runs out?And pull our oil and gas out of the ground.
Like the Saudi's are doing, the yanks are doing, the Norwegians are doing....................
Ah stop - it has nothing to do with ourselves alone or republicanism or nationalism. All the global climate accords apply here no matter who is in Government as we as a State have fully signed up to it.
Fossil fuels are expensive and mostly supplied by unreliable corrupt despots or has to come through the U.K. first.
Hydro, Solar and wind power are less expensive.
We will be getting nuclear power shortly from France.
If the science behind it is sound and fully tested, I have no problem with it.
I have no idea why all the Republican/Nationalist's here want us to be fully dependent on others for power and defence etc as well as keeping any resources that we discover and actually need in the ground.
"Ourselves Alone" is just an empty slogan.
Use the 20-30 years to plan and prepare for the place you want to fast forward to now. What do we do in 20 - 30 years when that runs out?
Everyone else has oil, gas, renewables as well as nuclear?Ah stop - it has nothing to do with ourselves alone or republicanism or nationalism.
It's about doing what everyone else is doing and not self-flagellating ourselves to be the best in the climate change class and give ourselves a million attaboys when it damages our economy and we are not infrastructurally ready for it. Winning the climate change gold star when people are being killed on the N20 for decades. Stopping turf cutting, stopping oil and gas exploitation, when the Norwegians are opening new wells all over the world and no one says "baaaddddd Norwegians".
Pushing us into EV while adding carbon taxes and the VRT on them so the cost is exorbitant and the only place that has anything like the number of chargers we would need is Dublin. Happily burning carbon to put in Metrolink in Dublin cos it's ok as long as it is in Dublin but a flyover in West Cork - no culchies must suffer.
This is Ireland.Use the 20-30 years to plan and prepare for the place you want to fast forward to now.
