Is my recollection incorrect but was it not the word on the street for the last 35 years ago that the parents had a link to law enforcement?
Did that turn out to be correct?

It was certainly rumoured, though it is in every crime cases in Ireland!

Nothing publicly reported about it in this case, afaik.

I think they should be charged with murder with the option of pleading guilty to will full neglect which may or may not be acceptable to the prosecution.
I will give the prosection case and the defence case later.

Prosecution will allege baby murdered. It was their baby and did not alert anyone baby was missing.
They will say they had a baby at about this time but they gave it to someone for adoption.
They say that they did not hear that a baby was found down the road or it did not occur to them that it was their baby.
It did not ocuur to them in recent years to voluntary give their DNA.
Let the jury decide.

The whole conversation about joanne hayes was she was wrongly accused of murdering baby john.
This has been dealt with and she has been awarded money. This can be now be put aside.
However the case of her dead baby not being reported to the gardai has not been dealth with. Why not . Has anyone an answer.

Genuinely what is the reason behind the lack of progress and lack of clarity.
Considering the significance of this particular case in Irish society I honestly feel that clarity is required. I understand there may be perhaps sensitivities involved but these are surely trumped
