The Glen Boxing Club

On what basis are the Jack McAuliffe gold medals awarded

A quick google gave:

"ONCE again this year the Cork Ex-Boxers’ Association will present Cork’s All-Ireland Boxing Champions with a Jack McAuliffe Gold Medal.

This ceremony usually takes place following a parade led by the Lord Mayor in Bishop Lucey Park, however due to Park Renovations this year’s presentation format will be changed.

The chairman of the Cork Ex-Boxers Association, CEBA, J.J. Murphy said: “This is the 10th year of these presentations and the occasion each year has proved to be a very prestigious event for all involved in Cork Boxing.”

Over the last decade, Cork has led the way in the Irish boxing world.

No other county could match the huge volume of work being organised at ground level to continue to market the sport, and reward the athletes and their clubs for the efforts and long hours put in to produce champions and equally important to facilitate and encourage the average boxers who may never make it to national level.

This is where the CEBA, and the Cork Boxing Fraternity Association play a major role in the development of the sport outside of the ring."

Only in Cork can we have 2 associations for the same group. Was there a split?

The Glen Boxing Club seems to be doing more functions that training boxers.
There have been a few events over last year and now they are holding a bash for Tomas Mc Curtain.
All of this is being mooted by either IRA/SF or FF.
I m suspecting that it is organised by FF to whip up support in the Glen Blackpool and surrounding areas to demonstrate that they have not lost their republican ethos.
The guest of honour is Finnouls Mc Curtain daughter of the patriot.
I would question if the IBA as the oversight body of all boxing spending
should not step in and ask the Glen not to be holding such blatant political events and also spending in the order of 28k which should be spent directly in connection with coaching or helping contestants with travel expenses etc.
Why would you go out of your way to create a thread full of misinformation and lies? IRA/SF? Organised by FF? 28k costs?? WTF are you talking about?

Daftbrush what exactly is your angle with this thread? What’s your goal because you’ve started a thread on assumptions and lies. Can you answer my previous question? E.g 28k and the political aspect? Can you elaborate? If you can’t you should probably remove your thread because it holds zero substance so one can only conclude that you have an issue with the Glen Boxing Club and you’re trying to bring down the good name of the most historic boxing club in the country.
