Techies?? Windows Media Player help please...

OK, so I've this problem with codecs. What I want to know is this: if you've got a file created in Windows Media Player 9 using Windows Media Video 9 codec for visuals, can older versions of WMP play this, if the person playing it hasn't got permissions to download newer codecs on their computer. I've tried sending a .wmv file to people and some can see the video and hear the audio, but others only hear the audio. Thinking it might be cos their video codecs are older and they can't download the new ones, but I don't have a clue about this stuff really - any help greatly appreciated

WMP9 has always had codec issues,
try upgrading to WMP10. Takes care of most of them.

Search the board, there's been a few threads on this.
