Sinn Fein are not a Normal Political Party

The flag and anthem are interesting, You could have a dyed in the wool FG voter who might be lukewarm re a UI but will defend the flag and anthem for all he is worth, Some people are mistaken in the belief that only ardent republicans love the flag and anthem.
The second verse of the anthem never resonated with me and I wouldn't mind if someone wrote a better verse. The first verse is all good stuff, fianna for the land of destiny and all that. There's even a nod to our troop comprising of people from beyond the waves.

As for the flag, the starry plough for me because of the aim....masters of our own destiny from the plough to the stars....however removed the country is from that aim at the moment, for me it's a good aim to have. A touch of anciant Egypt about it for me.

On a different note but similar, it galls me that patriotism in this country is painted as a vice. Civic patriotism should be encouraged maybe then people and employees in this country would take more pride in their place and work for the betterment of the country. The kind of patriotism that encourages Irish people to kill others I don't agree with completely.

The Republic of Ireland should function correctly or alot better than it is before adding the north into the mix. The Republic should work towards making this place work better for it's citizens it might then become in some way an attractive nation for those currently against a united Ireland to be part of

Yes jimmy, nobody could deny your financial security is your priority, but not everyone is as fixated on money as you. Did you ever make a donation to charity by the way?

Some people, you mightn't understand their priorities, might put Irish reUnification higher than having a foreign holiday, or two, or ten. Or having a flash car.

Your house must be chock full of ladders given the amount of them you pull up!
Well ScumMan, I will never ever agree to a UI, your scum failed in their terrorism, I despise to see them winning in a political sense.

SF/PIRA = Scum

What decade are you posting from ?

People who long for a UI say the British should cover the cost for a period of time,
The British would be perfectly entitled to say..ye voted for it, ye deal with it.
They would of course, but I'd be confident they would meet their obligations to be rid of them. However, they'd have no obligations over stuff like the dole, disability payments, non contributory pensioners, infrastructure supports etc. That would fall onto us.
