Sinn Fein are not a Normal Political Party

Unfortunately it doesent work that way ,kids being kids will bend the rules ,put it in a box haha ,yeah right ,kids put phones on silent and use them to communicate and surf the net and social media.
The pouch system is controlled by the school ,locked and accessible at end of day.
OK kids will try to get around it but it's worth a shot. It will become the norm ,maybe they will even enjoy it ,socialising by speaking to one another and playing games etc.
Ever walk past a bus stop or group of kids out and about ,they are glued to their devices and that has to affect concentration at school.
The kids just have to put an old phone in the pouch....
Some schools trialing it already have stated that's a huge issue.
There is a discipline policy that then deals with anyone found in breach.

Like yes this is an SF thread and yes they're trialing it too in North but what SF TD's in the South criticise are right to.
It's party as a whole is the issue, but singling out that SF TD's can't give out about a 9 MILLION spend is a joke.

We see here alone in Cork such as St Cillian's Special School who can't get therapists as there's no money allocated, teachers in primary and secondary schools on part time hours or job sharing in more than one school as there's no money allocated to roles, teachers not on permanent contracts cause the funding might not be there next year.
School bus places or students somehow deemed not legible this year after they used it last year.

All of us have family member(s) or friends be it a teacher or our friends sons or daughters who are effected by all the above cuts.

Parties aside bashing SF cause they called it out here but their colleagues in the North are trialing it is the definition of DEFLECTION.
Why can't we discuss 9 MILLION without DEFLECTING on SF.
At the end of the day it's our tax paying for it and people don't want to comment on it but rather bash SF.
Madness.

I just hope people bashing SF have no family or friends that were/are effected by education budget/funding cuts.

I have given govt credit for free books and free lunches and breakfasts but id sooner see more of that money go to kids with special needs, many families can well afford books,

Or just do both.
336000 on a bike shed.
9 mill on phone pouches.
The amount of waste is scary.

Just needs someone in cabinet who understands the importance of SN diagnoses, SN supports and therapies, SN school places etc etc

I absolutely respect that.
Those scheme were brought in the help the 'hidden' poverty such as parents going hungry so kids weren't effected and they didn't look for help so was given as blanket measure. I agree it's overspend in some schools that are well off etc.
Schools in disadvantaged areas are doing very well (don't mean that in a smart way) and the lunches also help young kids develop good and healthy eating habits.
