Independents are the last thing the country needs after the election. There will be hard decisions to be made and instability or pandering to special interests is not good news.

A lot of them will be FF Lite (i.e. FFers who left the party because they saw more prospect of being elected as an Independent, but who will return to support the party when it matters. Ross is a slightly different creature as he's FG Lite, having been a FG County Councillor in Wicklow from 1991 to 1999. Still wouldn't even consider voting for that though.

True. Nightmare scenario here is the FG get to within 4 or 5 seats of an overall majority and take on 7 or 8 indos to get them over the line.
