The U.S. House of Representatives approved more than $40 billion more aid for Ukraine on Tuesday, as Congress races to keep military aid flowing and boost the government in Kyiv as it grapples with the Russian invasion.

The House passed a nearly $40 billion package for Ukraine late Tuesday, sending the bill to the Senate as lawmakers heed President Joe Biden’s warning that U.S. cash to help the allied country will run out in just over a week.


Attracting overwhelming support, the measure cleared the House in a 368-57 vote, just hours after bill text was released. Across the Capitol, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has promised the Senate “will move swiftly” to pass the package for Biden’s signature.

Despite the boost to Biden’s proposal, some Republicans argue more cash might still be needed to adequately help Ukraine beat back the Russian invasion.

“Defeating Putin is priceless,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), the Senate’s top Republican on the spending panel that funds the State Department and foreign aid programs.

“Do I think this will be the last round? No, I think we’ll be doing this again,” Graham said. “Who knows where we’re going to be two months from now, three months from now. As long as they’re willing to fight, we need to help.”

Some House Republicans groused in their Tuesday leadership meeting about the short period of time between the bill’s release and the evening vote, according to three sources in the room.

“This is a historic vote, and it could determine the course of this war, and to vote no is a vote for Putin,” said House Foreign Affairs ranking member Mike McCaul (R-Texas).

Heard a very interesting interview with a very senior German Diplomat on DW News today.

He listed the agreements that Putin has broken and said, in effect, that it would be meaningless to reach agreement with him again as he would not abide.

It appears that the official German line is that everyone was taken in by Putin but that privately, the body politic in Germany is seriously embarrased by their stupidity. The interviewer quoted George W, from a year ago, saying German Strategy was flawed.

It’s an uncomfortable truth the Germans are looking at, not since 1945 have they had the gaze of the World on them like this, many starting to see the paint coming off Frau Merkels tenure.

The younger generation are really not impressed with how the political classes are behaving like a bunch of Mafia thugs. Even worse the whole idea of meticulous German planning is a pharse.

Will be interesting to see when the Ukrainians switch from defensive mode they are in now even though gaining ground to an offensive one how that goes, totally different ballgame but think they are up for it.The battlefield performance has been nothing short of startling.They have kept the message clear from the President down to the foot soldiers, very easy to lose sight of objectives and go for blood and revenge but they have maintained their objectives

Also

We are not supplying Military Aid to the Nazi Ukrainians. It's only Special Clever Military Equipment that will self destruct, on use, killing 1000's of Nazi Soldiers. It's just a Special Cunning Plan to kill Nazis

Here in Cork, we have the same problem as you, with Nazis, in a nearby Kingdom (aka Kerry) but we have a Special Operation, - we bring them here to Educate and De-Nazify 'em. It's working very well, at the moment
