You don’t fight against the land you fight against the opposing army. If there’s no opposing army left you eventually take all the land.

In a war of attrition you want to create as much loss about your enemy while avoiding as much loss among your own troops. To exhaust your enemy. Trade territory for this. Ukraine lost entire brigades trying to get Kherson. They had no success until all the Russian forces had safety evacuated (with tiny amounts of casualties) and were on the other side of the river. Now Ukraine has effectively left Kherson because the overwhelming superior Russian artillery has been pulverizing them from the other side of the river.

I must admit I’ve stopped following the war on a day to day basis. There’s no need. The outcome is inevitable, and sad news about the catastrophic casualties Ukraine is suffering in places like Bakmut come as no surprise.

The US (in reality, a small neocon cadre) has found itself trapped in a cycle of defeat or escalation. They cannot accept defeat or admit they got it wrong. They drastically underestimated the Russians, and though they got the lapdog EU on side, they got it horribly wrong with the self defeating sanctions. So here they are trapped into this endless escalation.

The US is the biggest terrorist country in history and Ukraine is sacrificing their own country for a neocon war. Meanwhile, Zelensky the clown actor is visiting the land of hope and glory right now. Lights, camera, action. He will be hoping to get some good downtime during his visit. Apparently the cocaine is top class over there.
