Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Kind of sad to see life get a stranglehold on childhood favourite Lydia Deetz, tbh. Jenna Ortega is good, but Catherine O'Hara steals the show. Monica Bellucci's in it with nothing to do but look ravishing at sixty.

Visually, aside from the afterlife scenes, the film doesn't pop like the original.

6/10

Watched triangle of sadness.
Comedy/black comedy about reversals of roles between rich and poor, men and women and the weak and the strong.
Pretty funny, but had to take a break during the shiting and puking scenes.
6/10.

Deadpool and Wolverine.
If you like Marvel movies it's the best recent one which isn't hard. Gives the fans what they want, good chemistry between the leads and a good few laughs.

i’ve watched some awful shit the last few weeks.

wolfs 4/10
tried to be a smart crime comedy but nothing really clicked.

blink twice 2/10
it was terrible. like an m. night shyamalan except worse.

speaking of above director
trap 1/10
i’ll give it one for the fact anyone thought it was pumping coin into.

a serial killer is on the loose and the law think he might be at a concert.

ffs.

twisters 4/10
maybe i shouldn’t have to same expectations of a natural disaster film
at my age as i did when i was 15(?).

beetlejuice beetlejuice
a very generous 5/10

it completely fell asunder in the last third but up until then catherine o’hara’s comic timing was impeccable. obviously keaton does excellent comedy too. the two saving graces of the whole thing.

and this isn’t a spoiler but in case you’re wondering why the dad, actor jeffrey jones, isn’t in it is because he’s an alleged paedophile.

started watching the nolan batman trilogy with two of mine here over the weekend.

these fucking tiktok children!

the first one was too slow. the second one was too complicated and long. they’ve refused to watch the third one.

anyway, the first one 8/10

the second one 9/10

the third one, without the children seeing it, for me 5/10.

We watched them last summer. In fairness, the last one is a slog. The first two are great though.

the last one is terrible but for some reason got rave reviews. it was three odd hours of tense music trying to set the scene whereas the only thing of consequence to happen was bane at the football field.

not sure how old yours are but my eldest are 11 and 10.

mr.duke 10 has problems sitting still for more than twenty minutes.

ms.duke 11 has no problem engaging for a few hours.

the pacing of the dark knight is perfect for anyone of that age. massive blasts of action and then small lulls before it all kicks off again.

Mine are 8, but they are utter wusses! We're currently watching the Harry Potter movies and they are struggling to deal with the dememtors.
