Pubs reopening June 29th

I dont particularly get the IPA craft beer thing TBH, much prefer a nice weissbier. I like a pint of Guinness if I was in a pub but dont drink a lot of beer at home, but if I do I'm happy out with something like Franziskaner / Blue Moon / Hoegaarden. Or for a larger I'd take a Hophouse or something like that.

I noticed yesterday that theres a load of beer in the beer fridge that wont ever go down my throat

This is because living up in that Dublin has made you soft, Manger.

Hophouse... For FUCK sake.

(And also a pint may cost you more than a new iPhone in most parts of The Pale).

As a wine drinker - you could go down the more interesting Belgian lambics and fruited beer route. Not the ones that they make in most parts of the world (like here in Ireland/the US/UK) - things that they've made taste like Cola Bottles and lemonade by using chemical essences.

I lived in Holland for a while so made it my 2nd job to taste as many of the Belgian beers as I could! Some incredible stuff there and I'm down with that. I just dont really get the IPA thing, not mad on fruity beers. I had some Kinnegar Limeburner on Sat night, was grand, wouldn't bother me one way or the other TBH

Hophouse straight out of the fridge is grand, I'd only be having the one anyway to quench a thirst before the wine comes out!

Didn't know that Yellow Belly and Wicklow Wolf were struggling, they are fantastic breweries. I do recall Metalman going bust a few years ago.

Kinnegar so seem a cut above and their packaging and marketing is superb. I absolutely love the artwork on their cans.
Wicklow wolf will be fine I believe the post was about the Wicklow brewery a different one . WW has serval big backers including a large pub group . Black donkey have not closed , yellow belly are still going but brewery is gone . They are contract brewing and just suppling their local area but still strong . Many have fallen but more have entered 16 closed in last few years but 20 opened . Boundary up North are struggling and doubt they will survive that’s one that will cause a ripple effect . Viewed as at the higher end of inovation losing them will make others take a closer look at their own business
With 76 breweries in the republic it’s a far cry from the last 90s when there were just 7

I did indeed mean Wicklow Brewing. No fear of Wicklow Wolf - had a pint of their Tryfeckta collab with Fierce in Fionnbarra's the other night. Solid.

I stand corrected on Black Donkey. I was talking to someone recently who told me that BD was on the way out.

Shame if Boundary does go - they are up there with the like of 3Floyds, Solemn Oath, Superflux, To Øl and Whiplash in terms of producing exceptional, world class beers. I know that the cross-border sales thing was ham-stringing them. As was the fact that, for some archaic reason, they had to ship their beer from their place in Belfast to Cloudwater in Manchester who would then have to ship it back to customers in Northern Ireland to complete online orders for them.

I still hope for a day when each brewer in Ireland can open their own tap-room. In the US/Canada there's plenty of taprooms combining their beer offerings in a taproom with a bottle shop and really great food.

They can , law changed on that few years back a legacy from the late Oliver (porterhouse) before he died he headed up that campaign . To Ol is another under pressure , laid off many staff and got another bail out from an investor . If they don’t change things the investors will have issues . Many many more will drop off but more will come in . I see many more pub groups and distribution firms either buying up or building . There will be a lot of distillery closures also

Chambers have apologised anyway and are offering free entry (wayhay!) tomorrow night along with €5 drinks.

They'll probably get a backlash for a few hours but it'll be back to normal by next weekend.

MRs montgomory as issued a heart filled apology and accepts she got it wrong, You would think that would be enough,
But Neil has people on sying they wont accept her apology, You just cant please some of this crowd,

Tuned in a few minutes, era you're wasting your time trying to please this bunch.

Based on how quickly they turned on Chambers, I don't think many other businesses will want to put all their eggs in the "gay" basket in future

I look forward to whatever it is you're alluding to.
We're lucky in Cork to have two great craft breweries in the city, namely the Rising Sons and Original 7.
Interestingly Original 7s "Revolution" ale is now pouring in the recently reopened Barbarella, which has been taken over by the owners of the excellent "Hyde Out" on Douglas Street.

Serving a range of cocktails to suit every pallet, as well as all your favorite pints, the Hyde Out is sure to be a hit on your next night out.
Are they bringing them in by the truck-load or wha?
