Ah stop ffs

And as for Shane O’Donnell, he was by far the best hurler this year, a superb ball winner and brilliant at bringing others into the play. If you can’t acknowledge his brilliance then i wonder how much you really know about the game
You think 2-14 in 8 games from your main man at full-forward is in hurler-of-the-year territory, then you clearly dont know the game at all. You'd expect that kind of scoring contribution from a wing back, to win hurler of the year.

Still digging I see? 😃
Just giving my opinion.
Great player. No doubt. And a big personality in the GAA.
But, there were far better and more effective hurlers than him this year in championship.
2-14 from 8 games is below the standard for even a mediocre full-forward. You'd expect an average of 3 points from play from anyone playing in your FF line. For hurler of the year, youd want to AT LEAST be doubling that. Or in hoggies case x4.5.
We'll agree to disagree on this one.

Which you’re entitled to, no matter how mad it is!

If like most teams these days you play 2 inside forwards, sometimes three.
And by SOD averages they scored 2.5 scores each per game, on average, thats 6 or 7 scores from your inside line, per game.
That would win you the square root of zero hurling matches. You wouldnt even beat a Christy Ring cup team.
If you have an inside forward scoring only 2.5 points a game, then, he is a passenger. Other players are having to shoulder the burden of racking up the scores, effectively carrying that forward.
Any effective, good inside forward, you want a minimum average of 4 or 5 points a game (via goals, or points, doesnt matter once they are racking up the scores).
AND winning frees, assisting other scores is also a given requirement playing inside forward, not a bonus.

I think a few here are too concerned about the scoring return. That's the whole point of what made O'Donnell extra special during the championship, he didn't need to just score to win it. He has so much more to his game, he can stay inside and score, he can go to half forward and win ball, get frees, bring others into the game. He has so many elements to his game.
I'll say it again, he was picked by the players. Are ye saying all those lads don't know what they're talking about or who they felt was the best they played with and against, they were there next to him on the field and a lot more qualified to call it than any of us here.
