Northern Ring Road
Cork to Limerick Motorway
Dunkettle Upgrade (impact is way overrated and doesn't deliver freeflow!)
New Ringaskiddy Motorway
Macroom bypass

Because we haven't had any transport infrastructural investment in Cork in such a long time all of them are needed.
The N28 (which is strategically the most important project) cannot occur until after the Dunkettle Interchange so Dunkettle it is.

Sure if Jerry Buttimer gets its way, the M28 will run from the Bandon Road Roundabout. So the Dunkettle interchange won't matter.

That man is a freaking Genius.

Jerry is hopeless.

He was both against urban sprawl and high rise a few years ago expecting people to live underground or in hellholes like Grenagh.

He was on an anti-Govt march in the city centre a few years ago until someone pointed out to him that he was actually in Government.

That, and the Northern Ring ending up at/near Dunkettle, made Dunkettle No 1 for me as well.

That man is a freaking Genius.

Jerry told us a few years ago that the Sarsfields Road and Bandon Road flyovers would never come to pass.
Now that they are built, he wants to use the latter as a staging post in a road from the Ringaskiddy terminal to the Dunkettle interchange.

Meanwhile zero progress made on any of the projects mentioned when Jerry was in government himself!!

North Ring Road surely more important than Dunkettle, no? At least there is infrastructure at the dunkettle interchange; there is no north ring road really.

BTW, is it true that the city-bound traffic from Dublin direction will have to negotiate 2 roundabouts and about 1.5kms of sliproads to get to the city after the ''upgrade''? Making that journey longer and slower?

The M11 can't happen without the north ring, and north ring can't happen without Dunkettle, so that order is clear enough.

The M28 could be more important from an industry point of view. My worry with that is it will enable more and more sprawl of the already destroyed south city region.

That Macroom bypass isn't important to Cork - it's a Kerry project.
