Member of A Tribe Called Quest passed away today. Now I don't usually post this kind of stuff but I'm just in from the off-licence with a few cans for tonight as MrsPorge is at work.
Sure enough, Can I Kick it? is on the radio as I approach the counter. There's just myself and the lad behind the counter in the shop so, being the trendy, overweight ,short-sighted, bald 43 year-old, I say to yer man : Do you know whose singing that song?, He replies "Nah but it does sound familiar.." I tell him that its from a Band called A Tribe Called Quest, just as the dj of whichever radio station confirms the death of Phife Dawg.
The teller nods and asks me what year are we talking about, I say that I'm not sure but I think it was around 1990… to which he replies " I was born in 1996!!"…… Slam back to reality for ThePorge!!!!
