Right lads, a bit of advice required here.

I've contrived to be in Spain around the end of the month, and I intend to see end of stage 12 of the Vuelta, a mountain finish with the climb starting in Estepona.
I'm familiar with the climb, it was used about 10 years ago and Nico came second as far as I recall. I've been up the climb - car, not bike .
My question is: how do I approach this - how early should I be there to get up the climb for viewing purposes? There's a few nice hairpins about halfway up (the climb is around 20k at 6%) with great views down into the lower slopes.

I don't think the crowds will be as mental as say the Tour,
