Yea - as I have oft posted - if the unionist parties had any cop they would implement the GFA, SAA and NDNA in full and in so doing put off a BP for a long time. That said if they get PR-STV savvy for the election in 6 months time they might be able to add a few seats.

Unionism is toxic and they are all so divided.

They could shut it all down now by simply forming an executive and governing and take the wind out of Sinn Fein and Alliances sails.

The people will thank them for good governance and deliver decent public services etc. rather than the out of date abstentionism and yet another election while they are all on the payroll will only weaken them further.

There is no other strategy than saying "No" as it somehow worked for 100 years....for them that is but they have no vision apart from backward to a Britain of empire and glory that does not exist anymore as it is now just a declining one party state propped up by the media and cash and could not care less about the 6 counties.

People are endlessly paying the price for their delusions.

Gawd love ya you haven't a clue. It's the same Nolan that's being shown up more and more as a loyalist platform mouthpiece. He continuously lets Jim Alister and Jamie Bryson on his show to stir the pot, and lets Robinson spout his lies about the Protocol unchallenged.

He is seen as very divisive by most and it'll be interesting to see now what he does vis a vis the Alliance Party.

Saw a funny stat about that this morning. Alliance got 17 seats with a total of 116k votes, the TUV got 1 seat with 66k votes.

Only a list system can prevent that afaik. But then you don't have transfers

More immediately - there was nothing in the Queen's Speech to do with the protocol afaik.
There are now just 7 days for SJD to make up his mind on WM or Stormont.

I thought with a List system you could run things in parallel. Say for ease of numbers if there were 120 seats and you'd 100 elected by PR, with 20 in parallel added to the 100 but just by First Preference Votes.

So if say TUV got 10% of the vote but only 1 seat via the PR, they'd get another 2 seats off the list because of their 10% from the FPV

The big decision is how many you have on the list compared with how many to have on the PR. I guess you could go 50% PR and 50% from the list but that would, imho, put way too much emphasis on the FPV and would dilute the effectiveness of the PR system - you'd be back towards the FPP system.
