Northern Ireland Elections 2017

Can't believe Eastwood made that "lent their vote" gaffe tbh. Very very naive politically
Did he say that? Or was Jon Tonge's interpretation of what he said. I didn't see or read all of Eastwood's interviews but the one I did read and the one Tonge referenced, he said “They just didn’t like being told by [DUP leader] Jeffrey Donalson that a nationalist couldn’t be first minister. So, they went out and they voted for Sinn Féin in big numbers,”

No, the electorate are moving towards the centre and they are eschewing the tribal extremes.

SF are moving towards the center and it's clearly annoying you. SF, despite your bluff and bluster, have upped their vote.

14 of the 27 SF MLAs are women. Sinn Fein and Alliance are a reflection of the fact that the electorate are heartily sick and tired of the same old gammons telling the electorate how things are going to be. Onward and upward.

He was asked by Carruthers on Sunday Politics and more or less said without saying he was off back to WM.
81k sterling v 56k sterling and not in the top job. Not a hope he is hanging around.
He has no power over there also so it must be all about the cash and expenses £££?

They rejected Teresa Mays Brexit deal for big £££ and now it has come back to bite them after backing bumbling Boris.

I have been saying that for years as the electorate on both parts of the island inhabit that space and eschew the extremes.

But while SF are moving decidedly towards the centre, the TUV who upped their vote, are trying to drag Unionism, and particularly the DUP, further away from the centre.

Arlene stood down, Poots got shoved aside, and Sir Jeff is going to toddle off back to his 80K+ job in WM. They are in turmoil while seeing the majority of the electorate drift further and further to the centre while at the same time the TUV is nibbling away on their right.

Unionism is a gammon race as the water drips inexorably from their pond and they don't want to be the ones to be the last ones pointed at when "the province" steps into the 21st Century. Whither unionism.

Saw a funny stat about that this morning. Alliance got 17 seats with a total of 116k votes, the TUV got 1 seat with 66k votes.

Ben Lowry of the Newsletter was saying how it seemed completely unfair that that was the case as if PR-STV was some sort of a conspiracy and the TUV being transfer toxic was some underhand thing.
