Was it the average sentence for those without prior convictions?

His sentence was average for defendants with his set of circumstances.

Hayes is more revered than ever in Limerick, judging by some of the FB posts posted by Stabonians.

So for his set of circumstances, if his was an average sentence, there would be heavier sentences, and lighter sentences. Otherwise your use of "average" was incorrect.

You claimed that the sentence Hayes got for what he did was AVERAGE, thus implying that there were people who got heavier, and people who got lighter sentences. And then you tried to deflect with the suggestion that people with previous convictions got heavier sentences (no sh*t sherlock!).

But now, in the end, you have to accept that there are people with similar circumstances to Hayes who got heavier sentences - either that or we'll have to add "average" to "conflate" as yet another word you regularly use without actually understanding.
