I'm under the impression that there is no native Irish kilt.

In fact, the Scottish kilt only came in around about the 18th century...

I think the Irish Kilt, and its origins is disputed. Scottish and Irish kilt are closely related.

I think it was actually the 19th century I think it came to be associated with Highlanders. Blame romanticism.
