Junior A Hurling Championship 2024

Might be better with 3 teams qualifying from each group. Couple of teams could be gone after a couple of rounds and lose interest
Some really smashing match ups. My prediction is for a changing of the guard. Donoughmore and Ballincollig to go through from group A. Grenagh and Kilmichael to go through from group B. With the men in black and white to finally get the job done !!!

Agreed, 3 would keep it competitive til the end. Could change by the time championship comes around, has happened before, overall though I think 2 groups of 5 is definitely the way forward for Muskerry.

4 guaranteed championship games is much better than last years format and will hopefully improve the division overall in time.

Group winners getting byes to the semi and 2nd and 3rd playing in quarter finals would be much better I would think.

Did they deliberately keep 2nd teams to one group for football and hurling? Seems too much of a coincidence to happen in both championships

Interesting prediction to say the least! Can’t see Ballinora failing to progress from their group.

I'd be the first to normally criticize them but fair play to the Mid-Cork board in trying something new and adopting this new 5 team group format. I'm all for it and I think it will benefit all teams playing more games and ultimately stand the winners better in the County series.

Obviously it's very early to be predicting anything, but in no scenario would I see Kilmichael getting out of the group ahead of Ballinora (as was suggested above) who will still be the heavy favorites to win it. Donoughmore, Grenagh Ballincollig or even Scarra could possibly catch them on a one off game in knock out on a good day but still Ballinoras to lose. Donoughmore in with a great chance in football this year and think a mid-cork in that is more realistic.

It wont change, they don't have the weekends to play as they are using a quarter final weekend to play Round 5. Very good system. 1st group could go anyway, but very hard to see Ballinora and Grenagh not advance from group 2.

The group format will probably suit a team like Ballinora, they won't get caught out over the course of 4 games. Like most years a lot will depend on the second teams and who they have available after their first team plays at the higher grades.
