John O'Shea Republic of Ireland Football Manager

You only have to look at the names thrown out here as likely successors to Kenny to gauge the disconnect between the candidates they're likely to attract and who people think will take it.

John O'Shea or Duffer are about the level of fella we could get.

Duffer has been pretty vocal about what a bunch of c*nts he thinks the FAI are so he's out.

Roy would have to take a major haircut from his TV work and would be a complete disaster. It would be hilarious though as the Jackeen scum/Jackeen scum media would be rattled out of their minds before it all turned to shit.

I read an interesting stat on this last week - apparently €600k a year is more than 1/3 of the coaches going to Euro24 earn.

The problem with stats is they can be used to distort any argument so you could immediately think that lots of really good coaches you'd know are working for that kind of money.. but in reality it probably means the coaches of Georgia, Ukraine, Romania, Albania, Hungary, Slovenia, and maybe Czech and Serbia

So that would be Willy Sagnol, Serhiy Rebrov, Iordanescu, Sylvinho, Marco Rossi, Matjaz Ken, Ivan Hasek and Stojkovic

Half of them you'd have had little option about and there would probably only be 1 or 2 you'd get excited about.. but they are all going to the Euros and thats our budget range. The FAI need to get their heads out of their h*les and work out who will realistically take the job for the money on offer, and pick the best of that group

... or just give it to Johno after his latest temporary manager appointment

I read Stephen Kenny was on 330k.

Letting him go without having their homework done on a successor is just the latest fiasco the organisation has orchestrated.

Letting it rumble on for another 4 months is bizarre

I'd be cynical enough about the FAI coffers at this stage. How much trouble are they actually in?

if you say the new manager would be on the reported €500k a year...9 months salary from Dec to start of September is a saving of about €330k ish...allowing for the fact we had no competitive games in that period and the recent temp appoints would be extremely cheap for those 2 windows...maybe they've played the long game from a financial pov or at best it's a consequence of their ineptitude.

I've thought since O Shea took the gig temporarily that they would offer it to him permanently and I can still see that happening. They genuinely don't look to have the ability to find a manager of the desired standard.

That recent interview from Marc Canham was genuinely incredible. It was an in-house interview with scripted questions and I still thought he was going to cry once or twice.
