Jesus lads, 'tis looking like BREXIT!

If you were the leader of the opposition and the current government leader barely survived a confidence motion from his own MPs, what do you do the first day back?
At least Corbyn had the stones to at least table a motion of no confidence in the government.
I know you have nailed your colours to Kier's mast and won't admit it now but he really isn't great, talks a good game sure but lacks action.
Jeremy Corbyn lost an actual election and his statement afterwards was: "We won the argument".

No, you lost an election and handed the Tories a chance to get the human blond blimp into power and destroy the country.

Starmer is happy to have Boris as the P.M. as he is undermining the Tories from within as they are screwed as 41% of the Tories want rid and they have no alternative lined up.

You might well want the Simon Cowell X-Factor type politics of big vision, knock-out punches, soundbites and more flags in the Commons Punch & Judy show which in reality counts for little amongst voters.

Agree with Corbyn or not - he was systematically taken out by the press, the tories and by his own team.

The game is politics - this is a bit like the housing conversation. You are right in the reasons why housing is difficult but we elect politicans to deal with it. Starmer is as I said, objectively infinitely better than Boris, but the game is politics and he is woeful at it.

Boris Johnson has a witty repartee and does not take anything seriously and is great full while drunk and is daily chugging his country and international law etc over a cliff and we can all see how that has worked out.

The other is boring and competent.

Do people want to be simply lied to and entertained with daily divisive nonsense or have stable Government?

Well that is what they have chosen.

Well Starmer can have all the principles he likes but as long as he's not in power he's unlikely to ever get them achieved. The British electorate know Bojo is a fraud and a charlatan but still seem more enthused by him and his unprincipled fellow-travellers than what Starmer has had to offer so far.

Like I have said before - Starmer is intelligent, across his brief, articulate, hard working and no doubt driven from a public service perspective. And you are right, objectively that puts him streets ahead of Boris as a potential prime minister.

But the game is politics. He is a very poor politician and the polling he so obviously reacted to today shows it. It was enough for Angela Rayner to comment on publicly - someone who understands that politics is a game that has to be played.

He will in all likelihood win 1 of the 2 bye-elections. Lib Dems the other.

He should be out of sight from Boris by now but on best showing is only 10 points clear of Boris's government that has had partygate, NIP, Brexit, Covid, Rwanda, Owen Patterson and a host of other disasters. And the reason is people can't see him as prime minister. You have to know how to do the politics as well.
People just want entertainment and be told what they want to hear.

Whether it has to make any sense in reality does not matter anymore in the U.K.

The Tories are happy to have Starmer as the leader of Labour as he is undermining the opposition from within. FFS even a dead cat leading the Labour Party should have a much bigger lead on Borris et al at this stage

No they want a government to govern in their best interests.

Whether it is here by fixing housing, hospital waiting lists, trollies etc or in England where they want transport, jobs and to be reassured that their NHS is not about to be sold off and Brexit is the sunlit uplands they were promised.

When you go to the polls people should vote for Starmer but they have voted for Boris.

That is because it is about who they perceive will lead them and give them what they want.

Yep, people clearly want to be patronised, lied to and simply dismissed like all his failed lovers and mistresses and then listen to some deluded waffle about Global Britain or some such daft backwards vision to when Britain was "Great"
What people, the is a forum in Cork with lads commenting on a political leader in the UK, who is lied or is patronised has no bearing on us, we don't vote for any of them.

Again, note my reply above

In a Utopia maybe but no as the media headlines in the U.K. are about anything but the above: Migrants, Immigrants, Megan Markel, The Queen, The E.U.,Enemies of the People, attacking the NHS and Culture Wars etc
