Because there exists a very real threat that Russia will conquer the remainder of Ukraine. Get out while you can.

They should just give Putin those regions he's after and be done with it. People in those areas want to be Russian anyway, and he can sell it as a victory back to the electorate in Russia, while everyone else gets on with their business.

I was in Lviv 15 years ago and got sloshed in the Dublin Irish pub. I just looked it up there and the place is still alive and kicking. There's no war in West Ukraine.
