Immigration Thread

Yes they are a non entity but if history has taught us anything it only takes something small (or big) to happen and they seize the opportunity. They are getting better organised and you can be sure they will have a TD elected in the next 10 years. It’s happening all over Europe and it’ll happen here.
Proc history has taught us that you're talking out your hole m8.

The bums didn't just lose m8, they were never at the races. And good of you to acknowledge the shitshow regarding immigration in Europe now.

Keep up our head in the sand approach and you'll see friction alright unfortunately.

You can blame Putin for that m8. No European country has been spared the influx of refugees since 2022.

Nationalism will never get any sort of foothold even when the boomers die out and the ffg vote goes down with them. Until then Ireland is a one party state and will be unrecognisable in 30 years when the boomers are dead and buried.
It will end up a weird soup of leftist ideology after that, aa place lacking any type of definition and identity. Dublin is there already , I was in Spain over the summer and a young chap said he had worked in Dublin for 2 years but it felt like he was not actually in Ireland. I'm in Dublin regular at various company's and the company canteen is where this really hits home ,its a weird mix of several different languages going on at the same time , a person wouldn't have a clue where they are.
The island is small so its only a matter of time until this will be the way throughout the entire land, sad.😔

It’s inevitable that they will get a stronger foothold at some point and the immigration policies of the last government will play right into their hands.

I hope the next government adopt a more sensible and pragmatic approach.

People being allowed gain access to the country without any paperwork is completely unacceptable.

Of course people have the right to apply for asylum but the minimum requirement is that we know who they are and if they have a criminal history, if they are violent offenders they need to be returned from whence they came.

If they arrive without passports it’s extremely difficult to know where to send them back to and to put that into action.

Our immigration structures need improvement etc but as some posters on here expose, some people won’t be happy until there is no immigration at all.

Repped

They've been talking absolute bollocks about 'the far right' for 4 years solid and the recent election showed up that they have no popular support whatsoever.

Which is exactly what we've been saying on here.

People are protesting up and down thr country as they don't want asylum centres dumped in their communities. It is that simple.

There's no 'infiltration' by some sinister far right bogeyman. People can think for themselves. 75% of people polled think we've taken in enough asylum seekers. Mass protests wherever they're trying to crowbar them in is testament to this.

We'll catch on eventually but unfortunately by then we will already be experiencing (more of) the same societal problems caused by mass migration as they have in the rest of Europe.

But remember 'Ireland is different'.

And if you believe that you've rocks in your head 😆

There was an article earlier on the IT website or somewhere called "how do we end homelessness".

Literally at the top of this list should be something along the lines of "stop taking in migrants, stop prioritising Ukranians over Irish people" etc.

But nobody will say that because you'll be accused of being far right or a racist.

So it's far more important to have everyone be a good boy and say the right thing than it is to actually tackle this major problem.
