Immigration Thread

I literally listed the issues in my post. Go back and read it and you will find your answer.
To be fair you did. I was just wondering what your overriding concern was.
I'd be of the same view by and large except I think we should meet our international obligations around refugees particularly. As I posted we need proper, efficient and transparent systems for asylum and refugees.

I don't subscribe , and I know you didn't mention this yourself, of the purity of the Irish bloodline guff.
There's no place in Ireland for that race hate bollox.
It was abhorrent in 1930s Germany, we don't need it and we don't want it.

Agree.
Preservation of Irish Culture and society is a concern. But i dont care about race.
We have a deeply rich culture in terms of music, art, language, wit, sport, etc that is important to us all. And most of us want that preserved. I genuinely believe many of our governers in Dublin actually would be happy to see our culture and tradition diluted and wiped-out eventually.
I couldn't care less if its Sean Og O'Hailpin or Christy Rings grandson playing for Cork. They are upholding our tradition and representing Cork and thats all that matters.
But what is happening with immigration at the moment just will not work and not only do we have huge issues right now, but we are setting ourselves up for enormous issues in the future.
Just look at the UK.

So Stacky picks out two lines from my post, and skips the entire context in between.

Thicker than two planks of wood nailed together.

To spell it out to you.

If i emmigrate, lets say to Australia. I will be vetted. I wont get in if i have a criminal record. If i rip up my passport on the plane. If there is no skill shortage in my field of work. Etc.

None of these controls apply to get into Ireland.

But lets all bury our head in the sand and either:
A) label as racist;
B) Laugh at.
People who highlight these immigration issues.
We need immigration as you even say so yourself as whole sectors of the health and hospitality industry would collapse as there are not enough Irish workers to do these roles anymore as they have moved up the value chain after education apart from the underclass of Irish patriots who have nothing else to do all day every day.

Immigrants have to go through a proper system as they cannot just show up and work here and there are skilled visa programs for those in the most demand.

Just like you to get into Australia on a visa.

Australia took in 500,000+ in their broken system alone last year which is just under the entire population of Cork.

They also took in about 30,000 refugees last year.

Asylum seekers and refugees being vetted expelled or the right to remain is another broken system here as we used to have a population of 8+ million back in 1840's but we do not have the resources.

People getting mixed up with immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers etc all the time.

Everyone who has an issue with our immigration policy is labelled a racist.
Its a joke.
I have a huge issue with immigration into this country. I'm in no way racist, but feel i cannot express publicly my concerns over immigration, for fear of being labelled a racist.

The lack of control over immigration into this country is insane.
So many unvetted criminals and terrorists coming in alongside the decent, hardworking doctors, nurses, etc.
Too many refugees, not enough resources to support them.
Ignoring the social tensions being caused due to strain on houses and services.
Extremely poor integration of some groups.
Housing hundreds of young men in single hotels, warehouses, etc.

Whats happening is complete madness.

I genuinely have huge concerns over the future of Ireland for my children.

Seriously thinking of emmigrating out of Ireland, for their future.

This country seems like its just been given-up for ransom by our government.
I would agree with you on most of your points listed as I think a lot of posters have already. The point in bold is where I'd ask where is the proof of this?

Of course for criminality there are immigrants regularly in the courts but no more so than the Irish especially taking into account the age profile as well. For terrorism I believe there are cases of people being kept an eye on but no more evidence than that and it is a very small number.

Heres a recent, local example that actually made the news.

Yourself and Cranky are the only posters pushing this kind of thing as some sort of issue to people here

The vast majority of people have had enough of the governments pitiful mismanagement of economic migrants abusing the asylum system.

The polls reflect this and have done so since the turn of the year.
I don't know how many times I can say this to you
There are 2 separate things.
One is our immigration situation, lack of policy, systems, processes and planning - on which it seems we agree almost entirely except for maybe refugees.

The second is the very real far right threat. I am not saying the first is being caused by the second. I am saying the first is being exploited by the second. It very clearly includes race hate, anti immigrant and indeed anti EU sentiment. It is being orchestrated from outside the state.

Both those things are real. We must deal with both either together or probably better, separately - because one is a public policy issue as you say, immigration and the other is a security issue, far right.
