Did anyone come across the WhatsApp messages about Bruff GAA club? A barrister's letter accusing the club secretary of negligence and allowing bullying and encouragement of violence take place in the club. Also accusing certain coaches in the club for abusive behaviour towards their own players and opposition players as well as encouraging their underage players to partake in violent and threatening behaviour. Not only were the coaches allowing bullying to take place but supposedly they were partaking in the bullying themselves. I wonder what the repercussions will be. A suspension of all club activities may be pending if Croke Park investigate this. It was a fairly damning letter anyway.

Edit: The barrister is a parent of a child who was allegedly bullied in the club.

No idea what went on but did you ever get a solicitors/barristers letter on anything contested? To say they have a flair for the dramatic would be an understatement. Still though, even sending the letter in the first place shows there's serious beef there.

Was the barrister instructed by someone within or outside the club? Short of complainant having dossier of video evidence and/or sworn witness statements, it's a long way from Croke Park getting involved.

I recall meltdown at Galway GAA club few years ago when Paul KImmage got wind of bullying allegations and ran with it in a feature article, naming club personnel involved, etc.

Was the barrister instructed by someone within or outside the club? Short of complainant having dossier of video evidence and/or sworn witness statements, it's a long way from Croke Park getting involved.

I recall meltdown at Galway GAA club few years ago when Paul KImmage got wind of bullying allegations and ran with it in a feature article, naming club personnel involved, etc.

I meant to add to that, the barrister in question, who wrote the letter, is a parent of a child in the club, who allegedly was a victim of bullying, which wasn't dealt with adequately by the club committee, hence the strongly worded letter to the Bruff GAA secretary.
