Fuck off with your Jazzing!

Jazz weekend report ‘specially for Dan :)

It couldn’t possibly have got off to a worse start.. 4 crashes ahead of us on the road made for a 6.5hour trip.. absolute shambles, wrecked by the time we were down. Coupled with a shite weather forecast it looked like Dan had his wishes :(

Sure enough Sat morning was wet, headed off out for a run in it, down through town which was starting to get going.. then the clouds parted, we headed for Emmet Place, and the music started. Hours of various brass bands belting out a variety of music, great atmosphere too. Wandered around the city with the kids, bands playing a lot of stuff they’d recognise, the good vibes were everywhere. Watched the rogger in Rising Sons and caught some great stuff later on, a Dutch band playing in Barbarossa the pick of the lot.

Back to Emmet Place Sunday and caught a few local acts, into The Woodford next and then the Bodega for a bit of grub, some lovely Beamish, and some upbeat Ska. Didn’t stay out too late in the end

Back home now, great to see the city heaving, businesses thriving, and a brilliant atmosphere. Having said all that, it’s shit and they should cancel it all because its not proper jazz or something
