read the 1st post of the thread. I think what ye have said are all great moments but they have a 'support' element attached. I was trying to eradicate that & just admire the skill & the unique-ness really. The best example was Ronnie's 147. I'd have plenty of other great moments especially being at Cork GAA matches but it was just the performance of Johnson in Atlanta that still sticks in the memory.

I'll accept the title does'nt reflect this.

Was just thinking about this earlier. Now the point of this is not to refer to moments involving teams we support such as in my case Man Utd or Cork GAA but just a moment or a performance of outstanding genius. .

id consider collins beating eubank a performance of outstanding genius.
Id consider from the little i know of the two boys that to be one of the greatest irish achievements ever.

ya but for an athlete breaking a world record is just that. As for Johnson he absolutely smashed it by over 3 tenths of a second.

Maybe arsenals jens lehmann in the world cup during the penalty shootout. He had that bit of paper and was reading who shot where. Saved two spotters.
