Cork Minor Hurling 2023

This was not the final but only a play off for 3rd and 4th place.

I attended yesterday and Cork were very poor. There can't be excuses for the results but I'm hearing different stories regarding the other counties having A & B teams versus Cork having mixed teams. A few players missing through injury but either way these performances do nothing for development.
Cork are outliers at underage county in keeping circa 80 players involved overall until minor and having two or even three representative teams picked on a geographical basis. Most counties have just one team or if they have two they are on A & B basis.
The modern day thinking is that Corks approach is best.

Final group games in Minor C'ship tomorrow:
G1: Ballincollig v Sars & Midleton v Aghada
G2: Douglas v Glen & Inniscarra v Youghal

If Sars & Glen win then both groups will have 3 teams on 4 points (assuming Midleton & Inniscarra win which is almost certain). The rules are that the 3 teams go into a hat, first out straight into semis & other 2 teams play-off for other semi spot. Never heard of anything like that before but thems the rules.

Those results all happened. Surely it's scoring difference?
Where did that rule come from, I've never heard it used

No idea where it came from but that's what is happening. Draw being made tomorrow night with fixtures to follow. Hopefully will be a double header for what are essentially quarter finals.

Ya I actually think maybe it's a better rule in that scenario. Would be hard on a team to get 2 wins but not go through due to scoring difference. At least then it's settled on the pitch.

Looks like an excellent championship so far and very competitive. Aghada nearly caught Midleton tonight and Youghal ran the Glen close in Round 2 so while they didn't get a win those 2 clubs took a bit from playing at that higher level I'm sure
