Cork are outliers at underage county in keeping circa 80 players involved overall until minor and having two or even three representative teams picked on a geographical basis. Most counties have just one team or if they have two they are on A & B basis.This was not the final but only a play off for 3rd and 4th place.
I attended yesterday and Cork were very poor. There can't be excuses for the results but I'm hearing different stories regarding the other counties having A & B teams versus Cork having mixed teams. A few players missing through injury but either way these performances do nothing for development.
The modern day thinking is that Corks approach is best.
