to answer my own question, this was released today https://gaacork.ie/2024/12/06/cork-gaa-convention-report-2024/
looks like on p9 of the financial statement it says that match day expenses and team admin come to a smidge over €3m(2.7m in 2023)

That's a lot of intense matches for teams ahead of a long and demanding championship. As someone mentioned, managers will be be anxious about injuries and having players fresh for championship.
The pre season comps are a big loss for trying out new players. Obviously don't want to be throwing in 4/5 newcomers in the 1 game versus a limerick for example.
Kilkenny will definitely be experimenting with the retirements they have had, as will galway who need to find players badly
