Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Shane Kingston out injured now for Waterford game. The management have got no break really so far with having full squad available to pick from. They have plenty forwards available which is a plus but anyone missing is an option less to call on.

Is it just me or does it seem to be a lot of hamstring injuries in recent years across both codes?
I wonder has any research been carried out by Medics/S&C etc on what might be triggering these injuries.
The training load? The conditions etc
Research indicates a lot of soft chaps around these days.

Assuming all are fit, would you start Downey or Coleman in defence v Waterford? (I’m assuming the other five are E Downey, Damo, SOD, Mellerick and Rolls Royce Joyce).
Rob Downey has had a really good league but is Coleman a better option given how Waterford are likely to set up?

100% Downey as he has a full league campaign completed with some very good performances.

Mark needs to be brought up to match fitness slowly. 15/20 mins against Waterford would do him if fit enough

Rob Downey is a banker to start, if Mark is to start in defence it won’t be instead of Rob

Section 208 for the Waterford match. 🙄
Playing devil's advocate here for min...

How many thousands of fans are left watching at home due to the game being in Walsh Park do ya reckon ? 15k (mostly Cork)?

I understand every county deserves home advantage but the Munster council must be like dogs privately over the lost income compared to a game in Thurles or PUC.

What's the capacity of Walsh Park now? Still below 12k? Hardly sufficient for Munster hurling championship to be fair.

When you compare that to the crowds Cork Limerick and Tipp would bring...there's an argument it's not serving the public interest by letting Walsh Park be used?

12k, Is it that low?

That’s pretty bad to be fair for a big GAA country like Waterford.

I believe its currently under 12k and per this article the next two phases would potentially bring the capacity up to 14-16k

I suppose where it’s situated they probably haven’t a whole pile more room to work with.
