Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Isn't that the whole idea of the league, try guys in other positions to see how they go? I think Coleman is a must to start but wouldn't be for moving Joyce out of 6. I think TOM has the muscle and workrate for midfield and I think he and Coleman would be a good midfield pairing - certainly worth a review
The time to put Tim O'Mahony midfield was against Kilkenny. Opportunity missed. Now we're in a situation where Tommy O'Connell needs more time to get used to midfield as the most viable option and not a whole lot of room to try out two new players in that area. Personally, I'd try Tim there and leave Coleman wing back

I’m sorry I asked the question about whether Coleman should be in the team ?my position is Joyce needs to stay at 6 and play Coleman in behind him in front of the fullback line.

I worry that we haven’t properly replaced Bill Cooper, a grafter and workhorse. Fitzgibbon is great bursting forward but he tends to fade out of games and defensively he’s not the strongest.
Bring back Bill and Niall McCarthy while we're at it

Seriously folks , no one outside cork thinks about Coleman like this.

Nice hurler , put an aggressive lad in his area , land every puck out between them and have midfielders run at him with every chance they get.
Fascinating.
Speaking for the whole country now are ya?
Obvious when someone describes a player as a "nice hurler" that they are not capable of seeing anything beyond the players size and perceived lack of aggression.

I could imagine lads on this forum back in '04 writing off John Gardiner because Dan Shanahan destroyed him in that years Munster final. "Nice hurler, no good in the air against the big lads". A year later he's GPA hurler of the year and part of a legendary half back line.

It's inter county hurling, almost no defender gets away without a roasting by someone on a given day. Noel Hickey got destroyed by Corcoran in 04 and Tommy Walsh had a hard time on Bonner Maher. Sure, Coleman has had a hard time on one or two wing forwards over the years, happens to everyone
Agreed.

Right Hand you're going to drive some lads around here over the edge with the good sense, fairness and balance of your posts.

Keep going!

Mark Coleman taking shots left and right. Those who find great value in him being rundown as Cork hurling snobs who don’t understand how the game has changed. The lack of self awareness of who the actual arrogant snobs are is breathtaking.

On to the substance of the argument. The guy has been out for a year. When he last played significant time he was miscast at center back. That along with the injury set the guy back. He playing the role he was meant to play now and I’m going to really enjoy him making those who under appreciated his talent look like fools this year.

Lot of lads on this forum couldn't pick their nose not to say a team ?
