Never said either player were responsible for Cork’s poor performance. Downey was under pressure all night and didn’t play well. That’s plain to see. Cunningham didn’t play well either.Downey did fine last night. He was marking their marquee player and whilst coughing up 4 points it could have been a lot worse.
Cunningham was also far from the worst forward in red. Missed some very difficult frees on a wet night- no shame there. Never went hiding - always showing for the ball. Corks problems last night had nothing to do with either of those 2 lads.
It’s one game and I made no other comment than it did neither any favours. That’s not to say they won’t bate all round them the next day.
