Cork Camogie 2022

Do you know how corporate governance works?
Irish society and Irish sports is full of examples where proper governance wasn’t adhered to and the dire consequences of that for everyone.

Rules are rules and decision to cancel the final was like the sting from a dying wasp.

Let the players wear whatever they want if that’s what the games members want/vote on. My understanding however is that the members do not want that and voted against this a few months ago. Maybe that’s wrong?

As a former player & mentor and a parent of players and coaches I think the day player power runs the show will the darkest day. FFS we’ve a famine on here the last 20 years cause of one.

Let the dinosaurs change the rule in accordance with governance in 2 weeks time. Girls just suck that up for a couple of weeks, ye are wearing them fine for years.
One of the (Dublin, I think) players was on the radio during the week and said the players want the change but delegates go to convention and vote against what they know the players want………

This has been going on a while afaik……..
The carry on in the Camogie Association is going on years.
Sure they can’t even agree a fixture schedule with ladies football, at any level.,

I’ve a grand daughter playing both Camogie and football for the same parish, as far as she and her brothers are concerned they play for the same club. Which is the way it should be.
However there is no co-operation, even communication between ladies football and Camogie on fixtures.
Wait till those biddy yokes get into the GAA and get power over club facilities, finances and policy.. 😂😂😂

A question for clarity

Delegates go to what convention and vote against the players wishes?

The players seemed to have the backing of their counties now, but sadly it was at convention time these counties needed to back them. As for delegates, I was one for my club at divisional level. We were instructed to vote a particularly way at a meeting and the other delegate voted the opposite, it wasn't even his first time doing it. The key here is, players and their clubs and counties need to be fairly sure who they ask to be a delegate.

The farsical part of this is the cancelling or threat of abandoning of games.

When Trevor Giles kept cutting his sleeves off, Meath just got a fine. I'm pretty sure similar happened when players pulled individual sponsorship stunts a few times.

That's all they need to do, fine the counties involved a nominal amount until there's a formal rule change on the thing. Games go ahead, points are being made, and the glorious rule of corporate governance that JBS is harping on about can technically be enforced.

A classically Irish solution to an Irish problem is there, but there's nobody so blindly ignorant than an Irish sports administrator.

Excellent post.
