Best Irish movie of all time and why?

Well, what's the general opinion out there, I think i'll start off with
The Snapper purely for their sheer beauty and portrayal of an Irish family

intermission - some good memorable lines.

never really like most others to be honest. Most tend to be tails of living with addiction of below the poverty line. Inside im dancing is okay, i went down was okay, man about dog is okay. there was one about a family from teh conga being hunted down which was pretty good. but most are like adam and paul - single mother/ junkie going about their unemployed depressing life in dublin..

all those roddy doyle ones are rubbish.

The commitments has aged terribly, the other two are just crap.

My Left Foot is decent.
Michael Collins is fun if all over the place.
The Field is great.
The Butcher Boy is excellent.

Hardpressed to think of many more classics tbh.
Daniel Day Lewis is fantastic in In the name of the father but the film itself is a right mess. The rest ranges from stage oirish didledy eye garbage (waking ned) to Dublin admen aping Danny Boyle shite (Intermission).

Anyone who mentions the Guard or In Bruges should just go away and drown themselves.

Most big name Irish directors like Sheridan & Jordan are average film-makers or hasbeens.
There hasn't been an Irish movie of genuine quality in years
