Ancelotti, Hit or Miss?

The old squad of last year is a year older

He has a poor league record

Decent man for the cups but even then some famous bottlings

Good manager but a tad over-rated for me

The problem is he'll be considered a miss (and most certainly get the bullet) if he doesn't get a league title and CL title within 2 years.

That's the kind of pressure he is under and it's not conducive to building a quality side long-term.

That said he's got some fabulous & highly expensive players there already so they'll need minimal bodywork to be right up there challenging on both fronts in the coming season.

Good post Philby.
Some of the "big name players" are getting on and younger players don't really seem to be coming through. I think that he really needs 2-3 top class signings in the close season.
After what happened to Mourihno, Grant and Scolari I don't see Roman A. giving any new manager too much time. Mourihno's first "cheque-book" title gave him some breathing space but any new manager at Stamford Bridge is under huge pressure from day one.
3 seasons without the P.L. title and repeated failure to win the C.L. are not a good omen a new manager at S.B.

i think they learnt their mistake with scolari. i think win lose or draw ancellotti will be given two seasons. i think scolari alienated himself in a lot he done.
interesting times. i still believe hiddink was a much better/proven manager.

Loved his Milan side in the mid 00's.

ah well, sacked...!

Bit unfair on the coach really, Bayern have not been replenishing their squad as much as other teams the past few seasons, the likes of Ribery and Robben are probably past their sell-by dates.

Mind you, I'm glad to see them getting stuffed, long may it continue.

Rummenigge wanted him out, very average results in the league and shit football...last night's bitchslap at le Parc was the final straw...
