Ancelotti, Hit or Miss?

personally i dont think he will do that good. Now maybe if roman backs him in the transfer market and they get a kaka, ribery, etc then ya chelsea may be good under him but i dont think even then hell play the free flowing football roman thrives. but if i was roman id have kept hiddink and paid ancelotti big money to go to russia.

People assume Chelsea's squad is mediocre, which it is not: Megabucks aren't needed cos they've already been spent. Ancelotti is obsessed with tactics, so if the players there adapt quickly to his methods (since they're pros this shouldn't be much of an issue) then HIT.

I don't know whether Ancelotti's what Abramovich is after though (instant gratification): the Russian is a fickle character if ever there was one. He'll probably start thinking FAIL if Chelsea go a month in the slow lane. The Russian has more money than sense methinks.

The problem is he'll be considered a miss (and most certainly get the bullet) if he doesn't get a league title and CL title within 2 years.

That's the kind of pressure he is under and it's not conducive to building a quality side long-term.

That said he's got some fabulous & highly expensive players there already so they'll need minimal bodywork to be right up there challenging on both fronts in the coming season.
