What's possibly more insidious is the creeping of the American accent into Irish kids' accents via YouTube or whatever other shit they watch. My sister-in-law and her husband live in Waterford but their 5 year old young fella sounds like he's in "Saved By The Bell".

I think someone mentioned earlier about the show Friends changing how we talked here, and it did in a big way, as did Home & Away. I remember when people started saying "Anyway!" or "Okay!" while looking to the side, like Chandler Bing. We didn't do that before Friends. That's why I find very old footage of people interesting. Their mannerisms and body language, etc. Did people shrug in ancient Rome?
